The First Annual National Faceoff Combine was a huge success. 32 of the top FO specialists across the nation gathered for competition, learning, and exposure to college coaches. On staff were Division 1 coaches from Dartmouth, Brown, and UMass, as well as a former coach of Johns Hopkins. Also in attendance scouting were D3 and D2 coaches from Nazareth, Springfield, Endicott, Curry, New England College, Emerson, and Southern New Hampshire.
The championship tournament on Sunday was a heated competition of best of 7 matchups. The final came down to Nolan Vihlen of Christian Brothers (Tennessee) and Cole Yeager of Radnor, PA. Vihlen edged Yeager 4-3 for the title win. Vihlen is headed off next season to Villanova University, while Yeager is being recruited by several Ivy League and other Division 1 programs.
Players enjoyed two full days of comprehensive instruction on all FO moves and techniques, coupled with hundreds of reps against the best HS players around, tutorials on scouting opponents through video breakdown, presentations on the recruiting process by Division 1 coaches, and on FO rules by certified collegiate officials.
